THE STING RAYS
This immersion is done in Los Gigantes. As it is in the south of the island, the sea is generally calmer, we go from Los Gigantes harbour (with our friends Antonio Navajas and Ismael) who take us to Barranco Seco (dry ravine) its a 5 minute boat journey, and on the way we can appreciate the spectacular cliffs of Los Gigantes (a natural work of art).
On
arrival we drop anchor and throw on the tide/current rope as in this area there is
always a bit of a strong current- for this reason we recommend that you have a little
experience.

We get in the water and lower ourselves down the anchors chain; while we descend we begin to see some mice or bishops and a large quantity of bream, damsel fish, bright green wrasse, parrot fish, trumpet fish ..when we reach the seabed (some 20metres of depth) we can take in all the beauty that surrounds us, we begin to swim until arriving to a large sandy area where we can find the protagonists of this dive, common sting rays (dasyatis pastinaca) black rays (taeniura grabata) log tailed rays (dasyatis centroura) electric rays (torpedo marmorata) butterfly rays(gymnura altavela) bishop mice(mylio batis aquila ) and the small wide eyed flounders(bothus podas).
To
see them calmly its best to go down on your knees on the sandy bed and they will
come to you out of curiosity. After a while we can carry on ahead and
On the way back to the harbour we might be lucky and see a dolphin.
